I believe:

"Congestive heart failure is a disorder characterized by decreased blood supply to body organs due to decreased contractility of the heart. It consists of symptoms which appear at different levels of exercise, until severe symptoms manifest at rest. People suffering from congestive heart failure have decreased quality of life and lower survival, due to symptoms during exercise and increased edema of soft tissues. The disease is characterized by a progressive course and mortality rates are high. There are many causes of heart failure: ischemic heart disease, valvular disease and other more rare disorders of the heart.

The base for the diagnosis of heart failure causes is the performance of echocardiography. It may quantify the level of the heart’s contractility and relaxation, the degree and mechanism of valve dysfunction, the characteristics of pulmonary hypertension and of some congenital heart conditions. In addition, performance of echocardiography with exercise or pharmacologic stress can help diagnose and non-invasively rule out coronary artery disease.

Diagnosis and treatment of heart failure must be performed within the frame of the international guidelines which include lifestyle changes, medical and invasive treatment, a balanced diet and a program of appropriate cardiac rehabilitation. The above approach may lessen exacerbation of heart failure symptoms and improve the quality of life.

As a practicing physician, I believe that vast clinical experience and knowledge of modern scientific literature, together with an open and cooperative relationship between patient and physician using the most modern methods of diagnosis and treatment, a comprehensive approach to patient management and consultation with other specialists can improve the accuracy of patient's diagnosis, thus naturally improving his management.

In this I see the global success of medicine in general and cardiology in particular."
